First of all, the Christmas commercials and junk started appearing on TV and in stores even before Halloween. The deluge of crap used to start halfway through Novemeber (what's this Thanksgiving American Gluttony Day I've heard of?), or even just afterwards for Black Friday, but no. Now the steady stream of capitalism starts in the middle of October.
Not that I have many cable stations to speak of (22 channels, 3 of which are in foreign languages), but they're saturated with sch... (more)

I watched a group of people waddle up to a minivan today. The driver pressed one or more buttons on their key-remote. Not just to unlock it, but to open the doors for everyone. The doors on both sides slide open slowly. *wiriririr* The passengers were in arms reach of the doors. But they waited for them to open on their own power.
They sit down. The seat belts automatically close around their increasingly unnecessary body. For a second, the doors remain open and no one reaches to close... (more)

So I would just like to ask, what is so wrong with reading the occasional trashy magazine? You know what I'm talking about: US Weekly, People, Life&Syle, etc. Yes,I know all they are filled with are breakups, hookups, who looks better in what outfit, who got fat and who got too thin, how to lose 10lbs in 5min, who's in rehab, and the Kardashians latest activity like getting the mail, HOWEVER, is engaging in a little brain dumping really that horrible of a thing?

So in the past few years since Lance Armstrong has popularized the Tour de France and bicycling in the US, there's been an upsurge in number of bicyclists on the roads for fun. This is cool, great for fitness, etc... But when you and two or three of your friends go for a ride and block the road 4 abreast, this is not cool!
Like the title says, my parents taught me when I was little that you ride your bike on the side of the road so you don't get hit by a car. Lately I've been seeing more peop... (more)

I love the freedom of speech that we enjoy. I love the fact that someone can get excited or even angry about something and discuss or argue it freely.
It really bothers me when people rant and rave and expect to be taken seriously. How to do it wrong:
Dr.Oz I have had over 9 to10 Hernia surgeies I lost count . Since 2004 I've had 10 hospitialization in about 5 of those Hernia operations were within that time and I am still not FIXED FIXED FIXED FIXED YET ! ! ! ! .because something w... (more)

It seems there is always something around for the population to be afraid of and be "against". A while back it was Nazis, then Communists, then Terrorists lasted for a while. We got less afraid of terrorists and were no longer controlled.
The latest fear is pandemic. Anthrax and Bird flue came and went and no one stayed scared enough. Swine Flu is at the top of the charts now. We will do anything out of fear. We will abandon thinking and understanding because of fear. People are taking... (more)

So I saw this quick blurb on CNN Headline News this afternoon, about a tussle with some 8th graders in Georgia... Apparently they were texting each other some explicit stuff, and the school and authorities are all up in arms about "When will our kids get the message that sexting is improper use of technology!"
There's a lot of problems with that statement there... First off, you have to realize communication is different nowadays than it was back in the day. I'm sure the people tooting their ... (more)
