So the entertainment industry has been up in arms about piracy for about the last decade or so. True, it's been a problem for much longer, but not as pervasive of one, now that music can be downloaded with the click of a button. The music industry fought tooth and nail to convict anyone and everyone they could, frequently criminalizing dead grandparents, single mothers, and many others very publicly. The end result showed their valid cause in a terrible light, and they have yet to stop. The bigg... (more)

So New Jersey is about to be put on a budget! It's about time! The highest property taxes in the nation are finally getting a cure.
When most of us are squeezing pennies to put food on the table, our government employees are enjoying pay increases, fat benefits and huge pension entitlements. Waste and fraud are embedded deeply in Trenton and our schools are bleeding taxpayer's money in an effort to provide mediocre education. (A familiar scenario for much of the nation).

Attention all employees: The system you use to do essentially EVERY facet of your job will be down for the next 90 minutes. Please sit and stare at your monitor until it's fixed.
If this was a rare occurrence, it wouldn't bother me so much. The unfortunate truth is that it happens every few weeks -- and when it's not completely down, it's dragging/slow/white-screening.
How can they question low morale in the face of the facts? They provide us with poorly designed programs and ap... (more)

I saw an episode of Frontline last night on WLIW/PBS about charter airline companies and their unsafe practices. The highlights were basically that profits are greater than safety.
One pilot interviewed mentioned an attempted to call in sick. Specifically the pilot called in "Fatigued and Sick", and had worked a certain number of consecutive 16 hour shifts, and felt uneasy a... (more)

It’s a revolting topic, but I need to vent on it. Women’s public restrooms.
People generally speak of men’s rooms as the nastiest places on earth. I've only been in a couple of men’s rooms (in emergency situations), so I can’t really comment on that. I can tell you, however, that women, by and large, are disgusting when it comes to public restrooms.
So here is my impassioned plea to the offenders – whether at malls, at gas stations, or even in my office (which is totally ridiculous): ... (more)

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m terrible at parallel parking. Living in a pretty suburban area, I don’t often have to parallel park. I think the last time I had to was when I drove to QXTs, probably 2 years ago. I was struggling so much that a homeless guy decided to help. He stood in the middle of the street, giving me hand signals and guidance until I was finally in the spot. (I was so grateful that I gave him all the change in my car when I got out.)

And commercial commercials in general...
OK, It has come to annoy me when I see a commercial on television, which, is advertising, a commercial. "Tune in on Fox during the season premier of <Insert Whatever Overly Dramatic Fox Action Series> to see the exclusive world premier of the trailer for this upcoming movie.
This week the commercials have focused on Super Bowl commercials. Miller light has an entire add campaign regarding their upcoming ad campaign for the Super Bowl. Peopl... (more)
So I had to complete this I-9 form at work, after being employed with the same company for 13 years, to prove I am a US citizen... Kind if ridiculous, but ok, I'll give. When I get to the room they're verifying citizenship in with my passport, I find out that they're entering all of your most private information such as full name, date of birth, social security number, current address, passport number, driver's license number, and expiration dates of all these into a weakly secured third party w...
