Attention all employees: The system you use to do essentially EVERY facet of your job will be down for the next 90 minutes. Please sit and stare at your monitor until it's fixed.

If this was a rare occurrence, it wouldn't bother me so much. The unfortunate truth is that it happens every few weeks -- and when it's not completely down, it's dragging/slow/white-screening.

How can they question low morale in the face of the facts? They provide us with poorly designed programs and applications (resulting in spending more and more time waiting than actually working), they micro-manage us into the ground, they give raises that are almost a slap in the face (if you get one at all), they wait years and years before promoting anyone (and hire from the street much quicker than promoting from within -- and THEN have the person who didn't get promoted train the new hire!)... I could go on, but what's the point?

I'm sure I just described everyone's office, not just my own. We need a full-on revolution to change things. Out with the stodgy, figurehead execs and in with radical new thinking! Global Mutiny, woohooo!!!

Until then, I'm going out to lunch ;P

I was/am always amazed at how often scheduled down time ( and unscheduled downtime ) occurred. Might I remind you this particular business is in the business of system availability and disaster recovery. "The Oracle cluster will be rebooted daily at 3 pm. Please be sure to log off from X, Y and Z at this time" Way to go! :D
