I want to start by saying I know I don't have to watch it and I can just turn it off. I watched only 1/3 of an episode and this is my opinion on "Jersey shore."

Besides being just another addition to the mindless drivel MTV calls programming, Jersey Shore is an affront to everything I stand for as a jersey girl. It is an irreversibly negative portrayal of not only the great state of New Jersey, but a terrible portrayal of east coast youth. Not to mention Italians. And I want it off. Besides most of the guidos on the show aren't from New Jersey they are trash from South Shore Long Island and - gag-Staten Island. Please join me in the boycott so we don't have to be subjected to a Jersey Shore season 2. You know MTV will milk this shit for years if we don't act now.

I haven't seen the show yet, but from what I hear it's funny. Not funny in a "haha" sort of way, but funny in a "Oh My God how can they be so awful" way. Kind of like a train wreck, you just can't look away... This is pretty much the concept reality TV is based on, and why it's done so good in the past few years.

The problem starts when people watch this and think that it's truth. Do people watch Steven Segal movies and think all cops are like that? I hope not, but some I'm sure do. I think what happens is that this is a "reality show", so people imagine it to be truth... when it couldn't be further from it!

Thank you! Just Friday night, I was ranting about this, and saying it would be my next post here. There are already enough misconceptions about New Jersey in people's minds; MTV doesn't need to add more. And when, in the first episode highlights, one of those over-tanned idiots said something to the effect of 'this is what being Italian is all about', I literally yelled at my screen, "No it isn't!!!"
